Why you should have your car MOT’d
Many people are genuinely unaware of the rules when it comes to MOTs. It’s worth understanding the consequences of not keeping yours valid and up-to-date.
The first reason is fine. At Top Tread Tyres you can get your car MOT’d for £30 when you need it. If you don’t keep your car MOT’d then the fine could cost you hundreds.
When your MOT has ran out, and you need to get your car to the MOT centre you don’t need to worry because you’re legally allowed to drive your car to the MOT centre. When your car is involved in an accident whilst the MOT has ran out your insurer could declare your claim invalid.
If your car is brand new it won’t need testing until 3 years of it being registered. For example, if you got your car registered on the 20th of July 2018 you won’t need it testing until the 20th of July 2021.
When you need to do your MOT 28 days before it runs out, you can use the existing month before using your year. So testing will only be needed 13 months later and not 12 months later.
